Our founders understood the enemy.
- Tyranny of the one is when a single person puts themselves above the law and governs for their own benefit rather than for the greater good.
- Tyranny of the few is when powerful interests influence government to provide an advantage for themselves.
- Tyranny of the many is when a large number of people… perhaps even a majority… put their own interests ahead of the minority.
Today many of our politicians do not act like inspirational leaders of all of us but rather like rulers who use their power to serve the interests of those who put them in power. Regardless of whether they use their power just to advance their own interests (tyranny of the one), special interests (tyranny of the few) or even those who elected them (tyranny of the many) they are still acting like tyrants rather than leaders.
